Laurel River Retreat is a destination location in Madison County – just 25 miles (45 minute drive) northwest of Asheville, and 5 miles east of the village of Hot Springs on US Highway 25-70. There is simply nothing else like it in the area. The house sits in the middle of a 130 acre private forest (only one other house, .4 mile away), adjacent to Pisgah National Forest. It overlooks the beautiful Laurel River and the popular and scenic Laurel River Trail that parallels the river three miles to its juncture with the French Broad River. The Laurel River and the Laurel River trail are popular for fly fishing, tubing, swimming, kayaking the rapids (for the experienced), wild flower observations, birding, and just strolling and sightseeing.
